Trudi McGinn (b.1962) is an oil painter living and painting in Whangarei, Northland. She spent 16 years living in London and in that time worked for the Royal Academy of Arts, the Royal Society of Arts and the Royal Society of Music in administration. She has travelled extensively throughout her lifetime and has always had a keen interest in other cultures. In 1998 McGinn and her family moved to Southern Spain for 6 years before returning to Auckland, New Zealand in 2004. In 2010 she returned to Northland after a long absence and in 2011 started studying painting.
McGinn has shown her work in a collaborative exhibition at Reyburn House, Whangarei, entitled ‘If We Shadows’ and has had her work shown at Kaan Zamaan gallery in Kerikeri, Northland. McGinn’s latest exhibition ‘Cities Within City’ was her first solo, showing 27 pieces opening to the public on 4 August 2017 at the Geoff Wilson Gallery, North Tec, Whangarei. This was the first time the Geoff Wilson Gallery had accommodated an Artist in Residence.
McGinn shares a space with a small group of artists tutored by Laurence Berry and has been married for 27 years with three daughters who are currently living in New Zealand.
